Thank you for your entry, your competition number is .
The venue is located to the West of Abingdon, adjacent to the A34 and should be accessed via the 'Marcham Interchange'. Follow CAR-NIVAL Arrows to the airfield VIA ABINGDON TOWN.
THE SOUTHERN ACCESS GATE WILL NOT GIVE ACCESS TO THE VENUE AFTER 8AM COTHILL, DRY SANDFORD AND FORD ARE OUT OF BOUNDS TO ALL CAR-NIVAL TRAFFIC. ANY INFRINGEMENT COULD RESULT IN THE LOSS OF THE VENUE
All vehicles arriving after 8am will have to enter the venue via Gate B in Honeybottom Lane to the North. See the enclosed map for further details.
On no account must entry be attempted via the Main Barracks Entry Gate in Shippon.
Please drive carefully, sensibly and courteously through the surrounding area as we rely on the support of the local population for the continued use of the venue. Remember, over 150 Sprint Cars, 110 Rally cars and barges and numerous Official Cars will be travelling along these routes and any indiscretion on your part will probably mean trouble for those following. PLEASE KEEP WITHIN SPEED LIMITS AT ALL TIMES.
The autotest will be located in the northeastern corner on Abingdon Airfield, as shown in the enclosed map. This shows the area in which all of the general facilities will be found, e.g. food toilets etc., please feel free to take advantage of them throughout the day.
Whilst you may move around the paddocks and the main area, be aware that Abingdon airfield is an operational military base, and all other areas are out of bounds (we don't want you getting shot - since we will probably have to clear up the mess).
Permit numbers 14568, 19285 and 19303 have been issued for the events. Stewards will be named on the official notice board on the day.
The tests will take place on an aircraft dispersal area, and the paddock will be on the approach road. Trailers may be pulled onto the grass but please avoid driving on the grass.
The test area is of good quality hard-standing to MOD specifications and if the weather is dry, drivers with aggressive driving styles may experience higher than usual tyre wear.
If you suffer from hayfever, then you are recommended to bring some suitable medicine with you since there is a lot of grass on an airfield!
There will be burger vans available all day, and a barbequeue from 4pm onwards for those staying for the now traditional 'play in the grass' in the evening.
After scrutineering in the HQ tent you should take you process sheet to signing-on where you will be issued with a card, showing your competition number, to be displayed on your vehicles windscreen, your test diagrams and your first time card.
All formalities should be completed by 10am, and there will be a short drivers briefing outside the autotest HQ before the first test starts. Please note that scrutineering for the sprint will be taking place in the HQ tent prior to 9am - please ensure that you scrutineer for the correct event!
Competition will take place in competition number order. After one run at Test 1, move on to take one run at Test 2 and then drive through the control area where you should hand in your first time card and collect you second run time card. You may then attempt your second run of tests 1 and 2, and then once again you should swap your time cards.
After all competitors have had two runs of the tests, there will be a 15-minute break to allow you to walk the next set if you wish. Tests will not be demonstrated and no practice of any sort is allowed at the venue.
The competition will proceed in this way throughout the day, until all tests are completed, or until 17.00. At which time, whatever tests are running will be considered as the last of the day.
Results will be on show throughout the day at autotest HQ and awards will be presented at a combined sprint and autotest awards presentation. We look forward to seeing you on the 7th and hope you have a most enjoyable and successful days motorsport.
AJ and Stefan
